FINAL TBMakeover 1200x220 TCA2

Press Credentials for the 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover

Hundreds of off-track Thoroughbreds, each with 10 months or less of retraining. Three days of competition in 10 different disciplines, vying for a share of $100,000 in prize money. Thousands of spectators watching online and in person. And at the end, one overall winner, crowned Thoroughbred Makeover Champion.

The 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America, will take place October 12-15, 2022 at the Kentucky Horse Park. The competition is organized by the Retired Racehorse Project, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, whose mission is to increase demand for off-track Thoroughbreds.

Over 2017-2021, over 200,000 people experienced the Thoroughbred Makeover through in-person attendance and online livestreaming via Facebook Live, USEF Network and Blood-Horse. The competition was covered by The Horse, Blood-Horse, Paulick Report, Thoroughbred Daily News, The Chronicle of the Horse, Daily Racing Form, and many more.
