Leland is a gorgeous, friendly, and sensible gelding looking for his forever person. He would make a perfect partner for a variety of disciplines. After retiring sound from a long career on the track, Leland has been slowly and correctly restarted since January, 2022. He has done extensive groundwork with a focus on relaxation, respect, confidence, and balance and has amazing ground manners. He loads well, is great for the farrier, ties, stalls quietly, will cross almost any obstacle, and has even been shown in showmanship and halter classes at local shows. He is a very sweet and easy-going guy. Under saddle, he is progressing very quickly and has a solid understanding of all basic maneuvers. He is soft and responsive to the leg and hand, has a great stop, knows basic lateral work, backs up, takes his leads, and is a quick learner. He has no vices while being ridden; he just needs a bit more time and polishing in the discipline of your choice. He has primarily been ridden western since coming off the track, but also looks and goes great in english tack. With his great mind and great gaits, and his very solid foundation, he shows potential to excel in several disciplines. He has been on multiple trail rides in varying terrain with small and large groups of horses and is quickly gaining in confidence on the trail. He has been hauled and traveled to many different environments, including shows and obstacle competitions, and is well on his way to becoming a confident, quiet, and calm partner for showing, trail riding, competitions, or whatever else you might ask him to do. He will be competing at the 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover in ranch work and competitive trail. I will hate to see this sweet boy go, but I know that he is going to make someone an incredible horse.
